In this position, you will evaluate all phases of transportation construction projects, aiding in the verification of grades, elevations, and layouts in collaboration with contractors and surveyors. This role involves inspecting the use of materials such as concrete and drainage systems, as well as conducting visual compaction assessments on various substrates. You will work closely with departmental staff, government entities, and the public to ensure effective project management. It is essential to maintain comprehensive records through diary entries, calculations, and estimates, while also resolving any on-site issues. You will collect and document project data through photographs and sketches, and prepare inspection summaries. Additionally, you will oversee contractor activities, generate required reports, and evaluate material quantities and testing using both manual and digital techniques. Keeping meticulous records of inspection progress and quality control is crucial to ensure compliance with regulations and the timely completion of projects. Participation in environmental training and the application of best practices will also be part of your responsibilities, along with performing other inspection-related tasks as necessary.Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
Limited travel may be required.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); or
wo years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or
One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.Special Requirement:
This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
