Prepare Mine Permit Applications

Design Quarry Plans

Calculate Reserve Estimates

Design Erosion and Sediment Control Measures

Perform Stormwater Design Calculations for Basin and Pipe Sizing

Design Reclamation Plans

Assist with Zoning/Conditional Use Applications

Calculate Reclamation Liability (Bonds)

Prepare National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permits

Design Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) remediation and Abandoned Mine Land (AML) reclamation projectsEssential Roles and Responsibilities:

Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects.

Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.

Maintain quality standards on all projects.

Career level, fully competent engineering professional with responsibility for managing detailed phases of projects with moderate size and complexity.

Independently perform a variety of projects or selected segments of larger projects.

Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work.

Work closely with senior-level project managers to gain additional project management experience for more complex and larger projects.

Make design, engineering, and construction recommendations, adaptations and modifications.

Prepare proposals and reports for small and large projects of varying complexity.

Perform quality control review of proposals and reports written by others.

Evaluate complex laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.

Serve as a technical adviser to junior-level project team members.

Interact directly with client and project team on developing scope of services, communicating project progress and findings and recommendations.

Act as a liaison between clients and regulatory agencies.

Write and prepare routine and complex engineering reports detailing services provided, findings, and recommendations.

Participate in marketing, sales and business development.

Supervise graduate, field and project engineering staff.Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or allied field, with experience in the mining industry.

Minimum 5-8 years' experience.

Master's degree in Engineering preferred.

Professional Engineer (PE) registration.

Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.Preferred Experience:

5+ years' experience in Mining Engineering design:

Familiarity with Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) mine permitting.

Experience with mine and reclamation planning for aggregate mining sites.

Experience in any or all of the following: reserve studies/calculations, stormwater management, NPDES permit applications, drilling or core log equipment selection, surveying, and operations.

Working knowledge pertaining to geology/hydrogeology/groundwater modeling.

Experience with erosion and sediment pollution control design.

Design experience with Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) remediation and Abandoned Mine Land (AML) reclamation projects.

Working familiarity with AutoCAD software.

Proficiency in use of Carlson Software.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Team oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent time management, with the ability to multitask.

Detail oriented with commitment to providing high quality engineering services as it relates to all workplace responsibilities.

Willing and able to travel to project sites and meetings as needed.

Willingness to complete field investigations.

GPS field survey experience.
