DESCRIPTION: This part-time staff person will provide for the comfort and safety of Shelter residents by maintaining the building and grounds. This is a non-exempt position as defined in the Fair Labor Standards Act.RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
Provides general upkeep of the Shelter facility and grounds
Responsible for regular maintenance and minor repairs, which may include plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting work
Responsible for retrieving and unloading items donated from local shelters
Responsible for deep cleaning resident bedrooms and bathrooms upon exit
Maintains adequate inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies
Assists in moving and storing donatedand purchased supplies and other items
Provides an inclusive, feminist, non-violent approach to Blackburn Center clients
QUALIFICATIONS include but are not limited to:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in maintenance of buildings and grounds
Reliable transportation
Valid driver's license & insurance if travel is a required component of the job
Ability to work with ease with people of differing backgrounds, ages, maturity, abilities, races, colors, creeds, genders, ancestry, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, religion, socio-economic satus and experiences
Commitment to the program philosophyof the agency
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to manage time effectively, establish priorities and function both independently and as a team member required
Ability to travel within the county required
Acts 33/34 Certifiable and FBI background check required
Excellent interpersonal skills required
Knowledge of issues and dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment, child sexual abuseand incest desired
