Apply now and take the next step towards a rewarding career path.DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this role, your main responsibility will be to evaluate and analyze the impact of proposed and existing transportation facilities on the environment. This includes conducting thorough assessments on various aspects such as land forms, air quality, noise levels, water quality, land use, cultural resources, socio-economic factors, scenic rivers, erosion and sedimentation controls, wetlands, storm water facilities, and threatened and endangered species. You will apply sound engineering principles and practices to ensure compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and PA Act 120, in order to obtain environmental clearance for transportation projects.Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of environmental documents related to these projects. This will involve attending scoping field views and providing guidance to design or consulting firms on the level of effort required for the preparation of an environmental document. You will also be involved in conducting fieldwork, such as identifying and delineating wetlands, conducting surveys on threatened and endangered species, investigating waste sites, evaluating construction waste and borrow sites, assessing erosion and sedimentation control measures, inspecting storm water facilities, and assisting field personnel in resolving any construction or maintenance issues.As part of your role, you will utilize Global Positioning System (GPS) surveying equipment to stakeout areas and collect surveying data. This data will be used to develop plans for wetland delineation, ensuring compliance with both environmental and engineering principles and practices. You will also be responsible for initiating any necessary follow-up and monitoring of clearance documents to ensure that clearances do not lapse.In order to effectively carry out your responsibilities, you will establish and maintain strong relationships with federal, state, and local environmental agencies. This will involve conducting field views and on-site inspections with these agencies to assess the impact of transportation projects on their specific environmental disciplines. By collaborating with these agencies, you will ensure that all project impacts are thoroughly evaluated and addressed in accordance with environmental regulations and guidelines.Interested in learning more? Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; orSuccessful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (commonwealth title); or

Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or

One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

Special Requirement:

This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.

Other Requirements:

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
