The Float Pool provides staff to assist various departments within Patient Services.

Maintains patient safety by preventing falls and injury due to impulsiveness.

Always remain with the assigned patient; accompanies patient during transport and escorts patients as required.

Full time (72 hours biweekly)

Shift: 12-hour Night

Every third weekend

Eligible for shift and weekend differential

Position Function: Functions as an integral part of the patient care team as evidenced by assuring an environment of patient safety under the supervision of the licensed nurse. Provides a safe environment for the patient requiring one to one observation. Is accountable for own action in performing attendant duties as trained. There are no clinical skills associated with this position.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesJob Specifics

Uses sound judgment. Notifies nurse when feels that patient safety may be jeopardized.

Continuously observes patient for compromises in patient safety. Does not leave patient unobserved. Notifies appropriate personnel if there is a need to leave the room.

Notifies supervising nurse when feels that patient safety may be compromised. E.g. patient trying to get out of bed.

Converses with patient as appropriate.

Accompanies patient off the unit for clinical tests or procedures, as directed

Keeps room clean and free of clutter.

Maintains bed in low position.

Utilizes side rails as patient safety condition warrants.

Provides patient with call bell that is in reach.

Assists other care providers with such duties as: patient positioning, feeding, hand/face washing.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Adheres to infection prevention protocols, including proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Functions as a virtual sitter as assigned which includes, but is not limited to, observing patients for disruptive behavior or safety issues, crawling out of bed, fall risks, redirecting patients as necessary through a virtual platform and working collaboratively with the bedside staff.

Qualifications and StandardsEducation:Formal Education and Training - High school graduate or the equivalent. Informal or Continuing Education: Evidence of participation in educational programs to update and maintain knowledge and skills.Experience:Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required.
