The purpose of the Head Teller position is to provide supervision to branch Teller staff. This role is responsible for ensuring high levels of member satisfaction, accurate member account records and sufficient cash and monetary instruments for branch operations. Some degree of creativity, data analysis and problem-solving skills are required to effectively provide solutions to member issues.

With no budgetary responsibilities, the Head Teller supervises the branch teller staff, coordinates records reconciliation, promotes Members 1st products and services/customer services by identifying members' needs, performs general branch operations and processing, and selects, develops, motivates and retains qualified staff. This position has very limited supervision of work and prepares Teller work schedules, coaches and reviews Teller work for accuracy and compliance, fills the Teller role when needed and conducts daily balancing procedures. In addition, the H ad Teller educates members on products and services and trains Teller staff on sales techniques to do the same, prepares reports, monitors branch cash needs, participates in open and close branch procedures, assists in the selecting of qualified candidates and monitors individual Teller performance, provides coaching and fosters a teamwork environment. The Head Teller is also cross-trained to provide a full range of new accounts, lending, account maintenance/review and support services. This position may provide coverage, as needed for other departments and/or functions that are within the scope of this position.

EDUCATION:

General and business knowledge equivalent to a high school

EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years of retail, financial or customer service experience

SKILLS:

Decision making requires analytical ability, judgment and ingenuity

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent organizational skills and a strong math aptitude

Knowledge of credit union products, services, policies and procedures

Familiarity with PCs and applicable software

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing

Ability to receive information and hear sounds at normal speaking levels under normal conditions in the branch

Visually able to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading

Sufficient manual skill for operation of PC keyboard and other standard office equipment.

Ability to stand or sit for extended time periods

Ability to work extended evening and weekend hours and to travel to other locations to provide extended hours coverage
