Location: Salem, OR (with statewide travel)
Employment Type: (30-40 hours/week), Hours start at 30 but could expand to 40 hours depending on class demands.
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience
Schedule: Monday–Thursday (Quarterly Board meetings may take place on Fridays)
The Oregon Home Builders Association (OHBA) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Education Instructor to support the delivery of professional development and certification programs across Oregon. This role involves delivering engaging, compliant, and informative instruction to adult learners in the housing and construction industries.
This is a part-time, in-person position with regular travel required to various training locations across the state, including Southern and Eastern Oregon, as well as the Oregon Coast. Training preparation and occasional meetings may occur at OHBA’s Salem office.
Key Responsibilities:
Complete the Lead Renovator Certification course (OHBA will cover training costs)
Drive the OHBA company vehicle to various training sites across Oregon
Provide in-person instruction for EPA- and state-regulated certification courses using pre-designed materials
Provide hands-on certification exams to students in your class
Prepare course materials and set up training spaces in advance of scheduled classes
Maintain clear, professional communication with students and OHBA staff via email and phone
Use Microsoft Excel and SharePoint to track attendance and review scheduling
Collaborate with internal staff to improve course delivery and instructional materials
Foster a positive, inclusive, and participatory learning environment
Assist with creating new courses for our online education
Participate in occasional staff or board meetings as scheduled
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching, presenting, coaching, or training adults
Familiarity with construction or housing industry practices and terminology
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to adjust teaching methods to suit various learning styles
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
Understanding of or willingness to learn EPA and Oregon-specific compliance requirements
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout Oregon, including overnight stays as needed
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (required); Bachelor’s degree or equivalent instructional experience preferred
Ability to lift and set up classroom materials
Ability to relocate to Salem, OR or commute reliably to OHBA’s office and various class locations
Availability to work in person Monday–Thursday from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with additional time for setup/takedown
Work Locations:
Primary office: OHBA Office in Salem, OR
In-person training sites throughout the state (including Eugene, Portland, Medford, Bend, the Coast, and other locations)
