We are seeking a detail-oriented Lathe machinist add to our team. The Lathe Machinist is responsible for setting up and machining parts to specification from engineering drawings on conventional and CNC lathe machines and other general machine shop equipment. You'll have opportunity to advancement within our company.
Essential functions, duties, and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measuring instruments and documents results.
- Performs own inspections and can use a wide variety of inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators as well as performing surface plate inspections.
- Applies knowledge of machine shop theory, shop mathematics and machinability of materials.
- Interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Meets production and quality goals.
- May perform secondary operations such as deburring.
- Assists other less experienced machinists when required.
- Maintains work area(s) in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Ensures all specifications and procedures are followed efficiently while maintaining a high quality level.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Knowledge of a Mori Seiki NLX2500 is a bonus, but not a requirement.
