About the Position

We have a Part-Time opening for Support Specialist at our Portland Service Center in Portland, Oregon. This position will be based out of the PSC, but will float throughout the Portland Metro region. ColumbiaCare Services is looking for the right individual to work peer to peer, (meaning you are affected by mental illness), and are willing to share your personal experiences with adult consumers affected by a severe and persistent mental illness, while effectively managing your own symptoms. If you have experience working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), Residential Assistant (RA), Residential Counselor, Skills Trainer, or Caregiving, then this position might be a good fit for you!

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, Typically 10:00 am-6:30pm with flexible hours

This position will be required to support in the development of life skills and therapeutic interventions; adhere to policies and procedures; perform clinical documentation, demonstrate professional boundaries and ethics; be willing to share personal mental illness experiences with peers; and facilitate groups focused on peer-to peer topics; May participate in review and/or interview team for prospective new clients; May assist consumers with direct community resources, shopping-on-a-budget, etc. In addition, you will receive crisis de-escalation training, which requires performing various physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques.

Qualifications

MUST have personal experience with mental illness and the ability to effectively manage own symptoms.

MUST be both certified and registered as a Peer Support Specialist through the Oregon Health Authority

MEET State of Oregon QMHA credentials criteria:

a) Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Human Development;

b) OR 6,000 hours of verifiable mental health experience working with SPMI population in a supervised social service setting;

c) OR equivalent combination of behavioral science education in addition to satisfactory supplemental mental health experience and training

Successful applicants MUST also have a valid Oregon driver’s license, maintain a safe driving record, and the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.

Pay & Benefits

Starting at $17.50 per hour/DOE and QMHA credentials. ColumbiaCare offers a comprehensive benefits package for part-time employees. Medical/Dental/Vision coverage for employees working 30 hours a week. All Part-Time/On-Call hourly employees receive time and a half when working a holiday and are eligible to receive up to 5 days of sick time and up to 12 days of vacation per year (accruals earned are based on hours worked). Wellness Benefit of up to $400 per year (prorated based on FTE). Our organization is qualified for federal student aid public service loan forgiveness program.
