Caregivers for a Kind, Independent Woman

Oregon, Portland
Aplica ya

Are you looking for a meaningful and fun caregiving job? If so, UCP Oregon might have the perfect position for you!

UCP Oregon is an exciting and empowering place to work. We help adults who experience developmental disabilities to live the life of their dreams—whether that’s living independently, working in a great job, or pursuing their interests and hobbies.

We’re currently seeking a caregiver “Personal Assistant” to work with a kind, engaging woman who values her independence. She lives with her husband in her own one-story house in SE Portland.

She is new to supported living and is excited to build a new routine with personal assistants. She and her husband have been out of their house for several months and are eager to be home, where they previously cared for themselves. You’ll work together on household chores and she will need assistance with using the bathroom, bathing, dressing, and light meal prep.

You’ll be part of the team to figure out just what daily life looks like and how she wants to spend time with personal assistants. She enjoys music and wants to get out into the community with her new power wheelchair.

Note: You’ll be able to go off-campus for lunch and breaks because she can be alone for short periods of time.

Schedule:

You’ll work 2 shifts totaling 36 hours per week:

Sunday 6pm to Monday 12pm and Thursday 6pm to Friday 12pm.

You’ll also work your regular hours on Agency holidays.

Benefits:

$18.00 per hour. Annual wage increase based on satisfactory performance.

Eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 hours per week.

Holiday pay (double pay for the first 12 hours of any agency holiday shift that you work).

Great medical, vision, prescription, and alternative care coverage (including massage therapy and naturopathy) for employee, spouse/domestic partner, and children.

3 weeks of paid time off, rising to 4 weeks after 5 years of service at UCP.

401k retirement plan with up to 4% employer match.

Mileage reimbursement if choosing to drive for UCP.

Fun, casual work environment, with lots of opportunities for advancement and growth, at one of the top-ranked non-profits in Oregon.

Requirements:

Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Be able to pass our pre-hiring screenings, including a reference check, a physical with a lifting test of 50lbs, and a criminal history background check.

Driving on the job is optional—if choosing to drive for UCP, you must be at least 18 years old, have a current driver’s license, a reliable personal vehicle, at least two years of driving experience, auto insurance, and a clean driving record.

Experience in the mental health or developmental disability field preferred, but not required.
