We’re currently seeking four caregivers “Personal Assistants” who will support a woman lives in her own apartment in Milwaukie and experiences a developmental disability. She is very social and has a great sense of humor. She is eager to work with a personal assistant that will value time spent in the community as well as downtime in the home. She loves music and singing, enjoying her large collection of books and DVDs and likes spending time out in the community enjoying parks, gardens and the mall.

Routine is very important to her. As her personal assistant, you will ensure meals are cooked around the same time each day following a set meal plan and recipes, assist her with eating, drinking, taking medication, completing chores, assisting with personal care and scheduling appointments. You'll offer emotional support and provide comfort and structure throughout her day.

There are currently four schedule options:

Option one: You will work 2 shifts for a total of 42 hours a week: Sunday 2pm-midnight, Monday midnight-8pm and Friday 8am-8pm.

Option two: You will work 1 shift totaling 42 hours a week: Monday 8pm-midnight, Tuesday midnight to midnight, Wednesday midnight to 2pm.

Option three: You will work 1 shift totaling 42 hours a week: Wednesday 2p-midnight, Thursday Midnight to Midnight, Friday midnight to 8am.

Option four: You will work 1 shift totaling 42 hours a week: Friday 8p-midnight, Saturday midnight-midnight, Sunday midnight-2pm.

You’ll also work your regular hours on Agency holidays.

This role requires patience and empathy, as the individual may experience moments of frustration. However, your ability to provide a positive, outgoing and supportive presence will make a significant difference in her daily life. Benefits:

$18.00 per hour.

Eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 hours per week.

Holiday pay (double pay for the first 12 hours of any agency holiday shift that you work).

3 weeks of paid time off, rising to 4 weeks after 5 years of service at UCP.

Mileage reimbursement if driving for UCP.

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED.

Be able to pass our pre-hiring screenings, including a reference check, a physical with a lifting test of 50lbs, and a criminal history background check.

Drivers preferred—if choosing to drive for UCP, you must be at least 18 years old, have a current driver’s license, a reliable personal vehicle, at least two years of driving experience, auto insurance, and a clean driving record.

Experience in the developmental disability field preferred, but not required.
