DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Takes direction and assists the Sawing Machine Operator they are working with.

2. Feeds lumber into sawing machines for cutting according to the work order.

3. Inspects and stacks lumber on carts, rollers or pallets as they exit sawing machines.

4. Monitors equipment and lumber flow for issues that would interrupt production.

5. Work on a production line with consistent speed and accuracy and ensure that production requirements and standards are met consistently

6. Providing coverage for operators who are absent or on vacation and may operate or tend wood-sawing machines, such as circular saws, band saws, multiple blade sawing machines, scroll saws, ripsaws, equalizer saws, power saws, crosscut saws and CNC routing machines.

7. Work cooperatively with the production team to meet quotas and goals

8. Counts, sorts, and stacks finished workpieces and disposes of waste material.

9. May operate forklift and other machinery to move product within the shop.

10. Responsible for operating and performing routine maintenance on machines that cut lumber, plywood, OSB etc.

11. Cleans work area daily including but not limited to:

11.1. Return tools and supplies in their proper place.

11.2. Clean the assigned machines with company provided tools.

11.3. Cleans debris from work area and stores it in the appropriate areas, including recycling bins.

11.4. Shovels wood chips and sawdust into waste containers

11.5. Organizes unused material, tools and equipment for the next use in the appropriate area

12. Obeys all safety rules and regulations, which may include:

12.1. Wearing safety goggles while on the shop floor.

12.2. Wearing ear plugs while on the shop floor.

12.3. Wearing foot protection (steel toed shoes) while on the shop floor.

13. Reports immediately to the Production Manager and/or Director of Operations any unsafe or hazardous conditions.

EDUCATION:

1. Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Preferred: None.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Required: None

2. Preferred: Experience working in the timber or lumber industries.

LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

1. Required: None.

2. Preferred: Forklift certification.

PHYSICAL:

1. Body Positions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required stand for long periods of time while completing other duties and responsibilities.

2. Body Movements: The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of his/her hands to finger, handle, and feel objects such as small and large building products items. The ability to bend the body, to reach for objects, and to crouch when needed are also required.

3. Body Senses: The employee must have command of all five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
