POSITION SUMMARY

Manual Trim Operators will be working on composite parts for the aerospace, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and other product line industries that are developed at our facility. The Manual Trim Operator plays a critical role in the production of high-quality carbon fiber parts by meticulously trimming and shaping composite materials according to specifications. This position requires a keen eye for detail, manual dexterity, and adherence to safety protocols.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Precisely cut, trim, and shape carbon fiber prepreg and other composite materials using a variety of hand and power tools, including but not limited to a die grinder & pencil grinder.

Perform trimming operations on parts after the curing process, removing excess material and ensuring clean edges.

Interpreting technical drawings and diagrams to understand quality standards to ensure accurate trimming and shaping.

Inspect parts before and after trimming for defects, ensuring they meet specified tolerances and quality standards, ensuring quality control throughout the trimming process.

Maintaining accurate records of work performed, including part numbers, quantities and any identified defects.

Collaborating with department lead and engineers to resolve technical issues while performing job functions.

Keeping a clean and organized workspace.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

Meticulous attention to detail & ability to follow detailed instructions.

Good hand-eye coordination and ability to manipulate small tools.

Troubleshooting skills to resolve issues that arise during the trimming process.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Strong communication skills, both orally and written, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Ability to take direction & work with minimal oversight.

Strong mechanical aptitude.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is often required to sit, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.

Equipment Operated: Special hand tools, ladders and mechanical stands.

Work Location: Open shop environment.

Protective Equipment Required: Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, and respirators.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a High School Diploma or GED.

1-3 years experience with composite materials and bonding processes, preferred.

Proficiency in using hand and power tools for cutting and shaping materials.

Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and ERP/accounting software experience preferred.
