Summary

Design and build entire manufacturing process for Low-Volume, mid to high complexity machined parts, including such tasks as: CAD modeling of operational layout with progressive stock models as needed, CAD modeling of work-holding, generating CNC Programs for part operations and fixture components, and taking necessary steps to ensure all requirements for initial run are met before job is to start on machine.

To act as the liaison between Engineering and Operations by providing engineering support in troubleshooting manufacturing process and machining issues and implementing timely solutions in order to maintain the continuity of production flow

Troubleshoot equipment and procedures to ensure total system efficiencies.

Flex in to NPI team on large scale projects, as needed, to create optimized production programs, including optimized tool paths and work-holding solutions that are fitting for annual production requirements.

Major Duties

Responsible for all facets of assigned new product introduction including:

Successfully implementing self-generated programs and produce error free code and meaningful set-up sheets.

Project management of multiple NPI Jobs, including overall project tracking and delegation of responsibilities as needed for meeting deadline.

Delegating or self-generating manufacturing process, CNC programs, documentation, purchasing, and work-holding solutions for new parts.

Direct and/or indirect interface with customer for DFM, tolerance considerations, etc.

Develop implementation plan (human and machine resources) for fixture generation, 1ST part prove out, ramp up period, continuous improvement during production.

Work with Quality and Management to drive project throughout entire first build ensuring hang ups on production floor can be resolved without interruption to schedule.

Generate data on actual costs versus estimates costs, and present to management.

Provides constant communication between Engineering and Operations.

Supports Operations by providing technical support and engineering data.

Support Engineering by providing feedback, data and other information needed to process parts

Other Tasks

Generate cycle time estimates for new parts, including NRE

Generate ROI calculations and present to supervisor for cutting tool or work holding suggestions.

Continuous Improvement implementation via self-observations or instructions by others.

Identifies need for established work procedure and standardized method.

Documents and communicates work procedure and standardized methods as needed.

Works with management to identify appropriate skill level of personnel for task delegation.

Provide Mastercam and or Esprit training and mentoring to upcoming Programmers and/or Assoc. Process Engineers.

Will, at times, perform other tasks as required.

Required Education

Associate Degree in Manufacturing Technology OR related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Mastercam or Espirit training courses (i.e., Streaming Teacher, Associates Degree, etc.)

Required Experience

Minimum 5+ years of relevant work experience in CNC machining / manufacturing setting up and running 3, 4 and 5 axis mills, Lathe experience a plus.

Minimum 3+ years’ experience programming 3 and 4 axis mills including: necessary documentation (SU sheets, work instructions, etc.) and work holding programs with proper documentation.

Knowledge and understanding of quality instruments and how to use them.

Experience with business side of operation (quoting, customer relations, production planning, etc.).

Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.

While it is important to be able to work in a Team environment it is also crucial to effectively work independently.

Can effectively collect and interpret data.

Ability to communicate with internal/external Customers written and verbal.

Knows when to be hands on and can insert self directly in to shop floor as needed.

Preferred additional Education and / or Experience

Experience in project management

Experience in leadership / supervisory position

Experience utilizing CAD/CAM software

Experience training CNC machining to others
