Looking for someone to work our 23 yr old daughter with intellectual disability. Prefer someone with experience but more important is someone who can connect with her. Our daughter will step beyond her comfort zone with someone she trusts and connects with. We live in the Sabin neighborhood (NE 15th and Fremont area)
Be flexible, meet her at her level and gently guide her forward and upward
Most important…have fun, laugh, explore the City
Take initiative, introduce her to new places and activities
Plan outings – coordinate meet ups with friends
Take trips to Powell’s, library, coffee shops, park, gym, grocery store, etc
Cook occasionally with our daughter plan and prepare a dish, a meal
Do crafts and art projects, read together, write notes, journal, dance
Help build independence, decision making, communication skills
Help her process her experiences and share yours
Must have a car available to use
Must be enthusiastic, compassionate, good at rapport building
Our Daughter
