Beaverton Eye Health is looking to hire a more or less experienced optician or someone with sales aptitudes and experience, willing to learn the optical skills.
Training will be available, based on the candidate's needs.
The position is for 4 days a week, 36 hours a week.
The duties are, but not limited to:
interpreting optical prescriptions written by optometrists or ophthalmologists;
helping people to chose glasses, sunglasses, giving advice to patients on lens type, frames and styling;
taking frame and facial measurements to ensure correct fit and positioning;
giving price quotes, discussing about the insurance coverage and calculating the patients co payments and communicating to the patients and to the front desk.
doing adjustments, repairs, switching lenses in frames
billing the insurance, electronically, when glasses are implied
checking lenses on delivery to ensure that they meet the required specifications;
arranging and maintaining shop displays;
calling and checking on lab orders
keeping accurate patient and business records;
calling the patients when the products are back
selecting, managing and ordering a range of optical products: frames, nose pads, screws, cases, etc
helping marketing activities
fitting contact lenses and giving advice on their care and use;
advising patients on the use of low vision aids;
supervising and training trainee dispensing opticians, if needed.
