Community Workshop is a community-based Medicaid provider agency offering attendant care and day support activity along with employment and vocational rehabilitation services.
Our agency also offers access to a makerspace with a wide range of tools: 3D printers and a laser cutter, sewing machines, CNC routers, woodworking and welding gear…and more. This allows us to support our clients' technical interests and pursuits in various fields. Crafty but not familiar with a tool, we can help you learn to use it, too!
We are seeking a driven and compassionate individual to join our team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP). This is more than just a job: it's an opportunity to be part of something bigger, to make a real impact on the lives of others, and potentially chart your own path to leadership.
Position to fill:
-Part-time to full-time direct support professional
-Executive Director development program available for ambitious and qualified individuals (must have a minimum of one of the following upon entry into the executive director position: a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience in the field of intellectual or developmental disabilities, including at least one year providing supervision; four years of experience in developmental disabilities services in Oregon; or six years of experience in a related field may substitute for a degree. For the purposes of this, a related field is psychology, sociology, human services, education, or social work.)
What You'll Do:
-Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities in a variety of settings.
-Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation, transportation, and personal care as well as activities in the community.
-Create a safe and engaging environment that fosters independence and growth.
-Collaborate with a supportive team to develop and implement individualized plans.
-Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals you support.
What We're Looking For:
-Preferred 3-5 years (1-2 minimum) experience working with individuals with disabilities.
-Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
-Experience and passion for creative design and making.
-Compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
-Reliable, personal transportation and valid driver's license.
-Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
-Positive attitude and a commitment to continuous learning.
-2 professional references.
-Able to pass a background check.
What We Offer:
-Competitive wage starting at $20-21/hour DOE with increases based on performance and transition to full−time, $.50/mile reimbursement for personal vehicle use.
-One week paid time off (accrues with full-time transition, part-time receives average of 1 week’s hours after 180 days).
