CNA In-home Overnight Caregiver for disabled elderly parents

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for in-home, day-time and overnight care of my parents who are 82 and 86. Currently we have two overnight shifts to fill: Sunday night from 4:00 p.m. – Monday at 7:30 a.m and either Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday night from 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. the next morning. This second shift will be determined based on the new Caregiver's (your) availability. In addition, there are several short afternoon shifts available during the week and the possibility of filling-in for other shifts. Your flexible schedule would work well with this position.

My father had a stroke and is in a wheelchair. His right side is paralyzed. His needs include assistance with toileting (he is incontinent), meals and clean-up, staying hydrated, blood pressure checks, medication dispensing, and putting on the next movie for him to watch. It also requires patience with a range of moods. My mother is suffering from dementia. She needs assist with showers, toileting, meals, and general direction.

The ideal candidate will be experienced with providing in-home care, mature, patient, reliable, confident, non-smoking, non-drug using, possess LOTS of common sense and know how to employ effective negotiation strategies. Neither has hearing problems and both prefer low, calm voices.

Important - CNA certification, experience with administering medication, toileting and transferring is required. Assisting with showering and dressing is expected. Dementia certification and experience is a big plus. Use of body mechanics to lift and stabilize my father in the bathroom and in and out of bed is required.

We are a dedicated team of two full-time caregivers, two part-time caregivers and three adult children who work together to manage and maintain a safe, stable, clean and secure environment for our parents. This is an authentic, respectful and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities –

1. Routinely toilets patient with semi-paraplegia

2. Assist patients with showering, dressing, getting in and out of bed

3. Provide nutritious snacks and meals and assist with feeding when needed

4. Maintain a clean living space for patients

5. Be dependable and communicative with other caregivers and the family
