The Bay House, soon to re-open in Dayton, Oregon, is looking for a qualified, exceptional Kitchen Steward to join our small service staff. We seek a dedicated and enthusiastic professional to ensure world-class cleanliness and maintenance as we present memorable and wonderful dining experiences for our guests. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cleaning and organization and the willingness to contribute to the overall condition of our facilities and the success of our operation.

After 45 years on the coast in Lincoln City and at Salishan Lodge, The Bay House is moving to Dayton, in the heart of Oregon wine country. As one of only three AAA 4-Diamond award-winning restaurants in the state, we will continue our dedication to outstanding hospitality, food, and service as we endeavor to be an even better restaurant than we have ever been.

Unlike most food and beverage operations, we recognize the critical importance of cleanliness, sanitation, and maintenance, so this is a career position rather than simply entry-level. Our previous steward was with the restaurant for 22 years, and sadly, is unable to make the move off the coast.

The Bay House serves dinner Wednesday-Sunday beginning at 5:00 PM, and our goal is to serve 20-25 guests per night. Full-time for this position should entail 30-35 hours per week. We close for approximately 3 weeks each winter, historically between Thanksgiving and Christmas, though that may be adjusted until after the first of the year based on our new location and business patterns.

Hourly salary is based on experience, plus 1% of gross daily sales.

Responsibilities include:

Daily janitorial service to include vacuuming the dining room carpet, sweeping and mopping the kitchen and service area floors,

and keeping the bathrooms spic and span, approximately 10 hours per week.

Dish and pan washing during service hours, approximately 25 hours per week.

Maintaining world-class levels of cleanliness and sanitation.

Willingness to assist the kitchen staff in basic food preparation if necessary.
