Job Title: Quality TechnicianJob DescriptionThe metal fabrication Quality Control Technician is responsible for verifying all fabricated metal parts meet established quality standards. They will work closely with the Quality Engineer to complete inspections throughout the production process, using measuring tools and techniques to identify defects, ensure compliance with blueprints and specifications, and will report any issues to production teams to maintain product quality and prevent further problems.Responsibilities

Inspecting fabricated parts: Visually and physically examine metal components at various stages of production, including raw materials, cut pieces, welded joints, and finished products, to check for dimensional accuracy, surface defects, and compliance with design specifications.

Utilizing measuring tools: Accurately measure dimensions of parts using tape measures, levels, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring instruments to ensure tolerances are met.

Reading blueprints and specifications: Thoroughly understand engineering drawings and technical specifications to verify that each fabricated part adheres to the intended design.

Identifying defects: Detect potential quality issues such as misalignment, warping, scratches, dents, improper welding, and other imperfections during inspection.

Documenting findings: Record inspection results on quality control forms, noting any non-conforming parts, and documenting corrective actions taken.

Communicating with production teams: Report identified issues to production personnel, providing feedback to improve manufacturing processes and prevent future quality problems.

Implementing corrective actions: Work with operators to address quality issues by adjusting machining parameters, re-work defective parts, or implementing process improvements.

Maintaining quality standards: Ensure adherence to established quality control procedures and industry standards, including safety regulations.

Essential Skills

Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes (cutting, welding, bending, etc.)

Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings

Attention to detail with the ability to check large quantities of documents to make sure that they meet code specifications

Expertise in using both standard and precision measuring tools including: tape measures, levels, calipers, micrometers, and gauges

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Familiarity with quality control methodologies and documentation practices

Proficiency in working with computers (Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook, etc.)

Available to work overtime as required (may require some weekend work)

Work EnvironmentTime is split between being in the office and out on the shop floor looking at parts, reviewing documentation specific to each build, talking with machine operators, welders and inspectors. Some overtime may be required depending on the job requirements (may include weekend work).Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
