Portland, OR.This announcement is a solicitation for applications from current VA

National Cemetery, the SECOND area of consideration will be
employees at other VA facilities, and the THIRD area of
consideration will be status eligibles.Learn more about this agencyResponsibilitiesThe Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer is responsible for the servicing
and repairing of heavy mobile equipment such as backhoes, tractors
and excavators. It also includes the servicing and repairing of
automotive and grounds maintenance equipment. The work includes, but
is not limited to, repairing tires, lubricating vehicles and
equipment according to specifications, as well as the inspecting and
testing of vehicles and equipment to ensure safety of operation.
Incumbent may use test equipment and applicable technical manuals to
perform trouble shooting of problems. The incumbent will perform
minor repairs without supervision and major repairs with limited
supervision. The incumbent must maintain vehicle records, equipment
mileage or hours and fuels records.Work schedule: May be required to work Monday through Friday to
include occasional weekends. Due to the mission of the National
Cemetery, the cemetery cannot be closed for more than 2 consecutive
days at any given time. Additionally, when a Federal holiday falls
on a Monday or Friday, staff may be required to work on that holiday
or a Saturday. All staff is required to work Memorial Day each year.
Staff will be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays when
necessary to meet the needs of the cemetery. Occasionally staff may

will require the incumbent to walk, stand, bend or push and lift or

The incumbent may frequently work on top of equipment at heights of
10 feet or more and underneath vehicles by use of a hoist or
creeper.Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily inside the shop
area of the adjacent storage yard. However, the incumbent will be
exposed to various weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, or
dampness. In performance of duties, the incumbent may experience
conditions that are muddy, dirty, oily, and greasy a good portion of
the time. This position requires the operation of various types of
motor vehicles and equipment in the performance of assigned
