Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or three years related experience. A minimum of one year supervisory experience, three years preferred. Ability to manage system of care for multiple service delivery mechanism. Three years’ experience in psychiatric or group care settings with youth and families and demonstrated supervisory abilities. MHACBO QMHA Certification preferred

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Core Competencies:

Assist the Program Manager with providing leadership and direction to the program and its employees.

Demonstrate a high level of respect, professionalism and professional boundaries for other staff, youth and visitors at all times.

Demonstrate ability to establish positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries with youth, families, co-workers, and community partners.

Demonstrate and communicate knowledge of agency policies, guidelines, and procedures.

Demonstrate knowledge and experience applying principles of mental health as it pertains to the development of group and individual activities as well as the acquisition of vocational skills to meet treatment goals.

Consistently model, coach, and train staff in implementing the Restorative Approach, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, trauma informed interventions, and other direct care responsibilities to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all youth.

Provide direct one-to-one administrative/clinical supervision to the program Skills Coaches and Supervisors.

Demonstrate a high level of competence and problem solving skills in risk management, therapeutic interventions, and decision making regarding impact on youth, staff, and other departments.

Assist residents in performing activities, including activities of daily living according to each individual resident’s treatment plan.

Participate and facilitate therapeutic activity groups according to established schedule.

Maintain all certifications and licenses as required to perform the duties of the position.

Provide overall leadership and direction to the therapeutic milieu.

Maintain an active, visible, regular, and reliable presence in the milieu.

Respond to youth crisis and implement therapeutic crisis intervention as needed to maintain a safe environment.

Assist with tracking incident reports and ensure reportable incidents are reviewed and processed as required.

Fulfill obligations for assigned schedule and on call responsibilities.

Develop and maintain the staff schedule, including approving staff time sheets and ensuring proper coverage ratios.

Develop and oversee implementation of the daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for residents.

Meet billing and timely service document requirements.

Maintain supervisory logs.

Addresses issue(s) of concern with supervisees immediately or at the next supervision session; documents having addressed the issue (s) and action or follow up; follows up on supervision action items and documents outcome.

Conduct annual administrative performance appraisals for direct supervisees

In programs with more than one Assistant Program manager, may provide coverage in other Assistant Program Manager’s absence.

Request, distribute and monitor funds for program activities and supplies.

Coordinate event and activities planning.

Assist in the development and maintenance of program policies and procedures.

Attend weekly staff meetings

Ensure ongoing health and safety procedures are followed, attend to safety and physical plant issues as they arise, and comply with all federal, state and agency health and safety reporting requirements.

In the absence of, or at the direction of the Program Manager, the Assistant Program Manager may also have the followingresponsibilities:

Develop and maintain program structures and guidelines.

Oversee coordination of on-campus and off-campus visits and appointments.

Complete ancillary tasks and responsibilities related to program operation

Grant emergency leave time, planned vacation time, etc., ensuring adequate respite and relief coverage.

Guide, assist and direct program staff in developing and completing QI projects and monitors.

Develop and track staff schedules and ensure accurate timekeeping and timely completion of timesheets.

Track staff absences and ensure timely supervision when necessary, in accordance with agency personnel policies
