Experienced Manual Machinist

Oregon, Medford-ashland, 97501 Medford-ashland USA

Vacancy caducado!

Build precision tools for the world's leading supplier of bullet making equipment in a pleasant, relaxed but extremely busy small shop. The ideal person will get along with others well, and have experience to set up and operate engine lathes, vertical mills, and turret lathes. Must have machinist skills that were common before the advent of CNC machining. This is a manual machine shop. Diamond lapping and honing experience are a plus, but will be taught to the right person.

This position absolutely requires experience setting up and operating metal-turning machine tools. There is no point applying if you have only done CNC programming. You can learn new high precision die making techniques here but must already have several years experience as a skilled machinist.

A successful candidate will need to step directly into turning tool steel parts from dimensioned drawings with a minimal amount of orientation to the specific lathe. If you are not sure whether you can do this, it would be a waste of time and gas to apply for the job. Some of our employees have 30 years with the company and will be able to provide excellent guidance provided you know the basics, have set up and run parts on engine lathes, vertical and horizontal manual milling machines, and know how to work from dimensioned drawings.

This is not a job for a CNC programmer or a machine operator, but ideal for a skilled machinist with several years experience, or a tool and die maker.

It is taken for granted that an experienced machinist will know how to read a micrometer as easily as he can tell time with a clock, understand how to set up tool bits and use the proper feeds and speeds for drilling, milling, and lathe turning various alloys of steel, working from dimensioned sketches and notes to close tolerances (routine work to 0.0001 inch).

We work a 4 day week, 10 hour day, 30 minutes lunch period and two 15 minute paid breaks, in a relaxed atmosphere, emphasis on good quality work for our customers.

Join a stable, half-century old leader in the field. Massive backlogs assure stable work for the right person, unlike most aerospace or defense related jobs that depend on the next contract. This company built the market, literally wrote the books about this technology and is the world leader in providing proprietary products and supplies. It is NOT a job shop or contractor. If you take pride in your work, you will enjoy the atmosphere and environment, working with people who are like-minded and fun to work with. They know they are making the best tools in the world for this field. Many of the products are the ONLY ones produced, anywhere, for the job. They must be built right to keep that hard-earned reputation. Clients frequently wait for over a year to own the world's best, so that is the quality of work required.
