The Ashland Family YMCA is seeking a dedicated and reliable Facility Maintenance Worker to
join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the facility remains clean,
safe, and in optimal working condition. This role involves a variety of tasks related to building
maintenance, including general repairs, preventative maintenance, and the upkeep of both the
interior and exterior of the facility/grounds. The Maintenance Worker will be expected to perform
routine and emergency repairs and assist with facility upgrades as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment, systems, and
facilities including plumbing, electrical, and basic carpentry.
Actively participate in preventative maintenance throughout the facility.
Operate basic hand tools and power tools as necessary.
Diagnose and problem solve facilities issues in a work environment with changing priorities.
Handle equipment and chemicals in a safe manner.
Attend and participate in all staff meetings and trainings as required.
Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
Must be responsible and pay attention to details.
Must be able to work alone as well as collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of
cooperation.
Maintain a positive image at all points of contact with members of the public.
Assist program directors with specific tasks as assigned.
Maintain professional attitude/manner and respectfully take direction from Supervisor.
Must successfully pass a security clearance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in facility maintenance or a related field preferred.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify maintenance issues.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexibly and respond to emergency maintenance needs.
Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 pounds).
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Ability to perform essential job duties without posing a direct threat to safety or health of
employee or others.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift/move a minimum of 50 pounds.
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift for extended periods of time.
Ability to climb ladders and perform tasks at heights.
