Get your kids off to school, be home when they get home. I provide foster care for 3 adult developmentally disabled men in my home, all with pleasant personalities and medium to easy amount of care required. The job requires a license through DHS DD services, a clean background check, and a current CPR card from an AHA approved provider. Applicants need to have drivers license and insurance, and be able or willing to learn to drive a wheelchair van. The DD caregiver license is easy to get if you are at least an average student, even easier if you have a background in caregiving of any kind. Probably 10 to 15 hours of study required to pass DD in home foster care test. I am willing to train anyone who is dependable and likely to work for at least a year. The atmosphere at my home is low drama and pleasant.
Job duties include help with activities of daily living including grooming and toileting. One resident has ileostomy and urostomy, applicants must be willing to learn to change out the bags. Otherwise the duties include light meal prep, pet care, activities, and housekeeping. I expect my M-F caregiver to keep the house clean, and caregiving needs are low enough to allow time for it.
