Live‐in Rent‐Exchange Position Available:
● Seeking mature, responsible woman to share spacious, comfortable home in Ashland with disabled middle aged woman. Willingness and physical ability to safely learn caregiving duties is required, as candidate must be prepared to assist with activities of daily living if a need arises while our caregivers are not present. These could include bathing, toileting, wound care, meal prep, emergency preparedness and outings in our wheelchair accessible van. Weekly grocery shopping is also part of the arrangement. Preference given to applicants who are also available to work a few paid caregiving shifts weekly, although working for us is not a necessity. Her current housemate is moving out of the area, her work shifts which will become available are Fri 5-8pm and Saturday 10:30am-8pm.
● My mother is in her early 70s with advanced MS. She requires a hoyer lift transfer into her power wheelchair which she is able to drive herself. She is a very pleasant, happy, loving woman with a great sense of humor and loves to be around other people. Seeking caring, positive and trustworthy person to share her home.
● We have a team of morning to evening caregivers scheduled when care is generally needed (10am-8pm), and seek a housemate to live in my Moms home rent free to be available in case of emergency, to provide companionship, and to address any needs which may arise (but generally do not) at night. My Mom is in bed early, sleeps very well and sleeps in late, and almost never requires assistance overnight (generally once or twice per year). If nighttime assistance were to become needed on a regular basis overnight we will reconfigure arrangement and provide payment.
● The concept is a trade : 2 bedrooms and private bath in a clean, spacious, comfortable home in exchange for grocery shopping and being on‐call most evenings and overnight in case of emergency or the rare case that my Mom needs anything. All utilities, wifi and cable included. Large fenced back yard and roomy common spaces in home for use as well. House cleaning is a shared responsibility, as may be a small amount of yardwork. At this time we are hoping to find someone interested in working a few evening caregiving shifts because these will be open with our current live-in moving on. Caregiving shifts are a paid position.
● This must be a true move‐in situation, we are not looking for someone to simply spend a few nights. Live in position would start early March. If this ad is posted then position is available. Training and getting to know my mother and her caregiving team would happen before move in. We want to make sure this is a good fit for all. 1 year commitment requested. We will also consider a shorter term arrangement for someone who is already an experienced caregiver and needs a short term solution or doesn't fit our long term needs, this could be mutually beneficial while we find the right person.
● Candidate must be physically healthy, able to dress and transfer non‐weight bearing person of approximately 160 lbs using hand crank Hoyer Lift
● No smoking, no drugs, no drama. Excellent communication skills required, must be a team player. References and background check required, as well as clean driving record.
