Job Title: Live-In Hotel Assistant(s)

Location: The Columbia Hotel, Downtown Ashland, Oregon

Reports To: General Manager

Position Overview:

The Columbia Hotel is seeking a reliable and dedicated individual or couple to join our team as live-in hotel assistants. This position involves providing support across multiple areas, including front desk operations, maintenance, repairs and housekeeping. This is a great opportunity for hospitality professionals who want to be part of a thriving, historic property in downtown Ashland.

Key Responsibilities

Front Desk Support:

After training and onboarding, assist with guest check-ins, check-outs, and answering guest inquiries.

Be available to work Front Desk evening and weekend shifts based on monthly organized schedules.

Provide exceptional customer service and address guest needs in a timely manner.

Answer phone calls, manage reservations, and perform other administrative tasks as needed.

Be available to work night auditor shifts on monthly organized schedules, being available overnight for any late night guest enquiries or problems.

Repairs & Maintenance:

Handle minor repairs, such as painting, plumbing or fixing broken fixtures.

Conduct regular property inspections to ensure that all hotel areas are well-maintained, clean and safe.

Light outdoor cleaning and landscaping.

Coordinate with the General Manager and external contractors for major maintenance issues as needed.

Housekeeping:

Assist with daily room cleaning and turnover to ensure rooms are guest-ready.

Restock cleaning supplies and guest amenities as needed.

Provide light cleaning and maintenance for common areas.

Qualifications & Experience:

Previous experience in hospitality, property maintenance, or a related field is a bonus, but on-site training is available for the right person.

Basic knowledge of property maintenance and repairs (e.g., plumbing, electrical, and general handyman tasks).

Housekeeping experience is a plus.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Customer service experience is preferred.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Computer skills and Google Docs experience is preferred.

Additional Requirements:

Must pass a background check.

Must provide professional references.

Ability to live on-site and be available for emergencies or urgent guest needs.
