Coquette Bakery is a European inspired bakery focusing on local ingredients, laminated doughs (think croissants), tarts, cakes and sourdough bread. We are expanding our operation and are looking for a few additions to our team.
Bakery Production Staff will help with all aspects of creating bread, pastry, cake, cookies and dreams.
We start EARLY, like 1:30-3:30AM early. We are in an old building, temperatures can be cold in the winter and also get hot during the summer. You must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, stand for extended hours at a time and traverse stairs. Food production tasks including slicing product with a knife, mixing doughs, loading ovens, lamination and whatever else needs to get done. Minimal dish pit duty may be required.
40% of this job is lifting heavy stuff and cleaning messes, 5% is helping solve World Problems on Wednesdays, the rest of the time is spent creating magic.
Worked on the line in other restaurants? Mixed a cake or two? Dabbled in Sourdough bread during Quarantine and managed to not kill your starter? No previous food production experience required but if you can follow directions, have a great attitude and want to learn we want to hear from you. Have you cleaned horse stalls? You have many of the skills we are looking for.
The right person has reliable transportation and is able to arrive on time. You must have the ability to get a Food Handlers Permit.
Starting wage is $15/Hour + Tip Share (works out to $3-4/hour).
Can you name, define and demonstrate 3 different kinds of buttercream?
Can you name and demonstrate the 2 different types of folds as they relate to making laminated doughs?
Can you explain the difference between a Chiffon and a Genoise Cake? (Bonus points for making good examples of both)
If so, you just got a raise. Hourly rate to increase depending on experience.
