JOB SUMMARY

Perform skilled mechanical tasks in the diagnosis of malfunctions, preventive maintenance, and repair of vehicles; overhaul major mechanical components; perform thorough mechanical and safety inspections; and related duties that may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1) Performs mechanical repairs and maintenance of gas and hybrid passenger vehicles including removal, replacement, repair, and overhaul of major and minor components, to include engine and transmissions.

2) Tests components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.

3) Diagnoses, maintains, and repairs vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air-conditioning.

4) Test drives vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and to ensure they are working properly after maintenance or repair.

5) Communicates directly with Service Advisors and/or Owner so that clients can be informed if any additional service is needed.

6) Install, maintain and repair a variety of auxiliary systems, equipment and electronics.

7) Operate hydraulic lifts, hoists, jacks, diagnostic computers and software.

8) Establishing and maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships with co-workers, Owner, and vendors.

9) Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.

10) Additional tasks as assigned

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS

Candidates at this level are expected to feel comfortable with the software related to their assignments. Specific software programs may change over time and it's expected that applicants demonstrate a willingness to become proficient with the latest technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job. Education and course work can substitute for years of experience.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

1) Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in mechanical repair, preferred experience with Japanese and/or American vehicles. Performed light to medium automotive repairs and diagnostics.

2) Associates degree in Applied Science, i.e. Automotive Technology, or graduation from an approved technical, trade or vocational school or any combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities that would qualify the applicant for this position.

3) High school diploma or GED preferred

4) ASE Certification preferred

SKILLS OR SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1) A valid Oregon State Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the Company's insurance carrier.

2) Knowledge of and ability to follow warranty and service policies and procedures.

3) Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools.

4) Ability to properly document concerns on repair orders

5) Be a persistent problem solver

SHIFT/SCHEDULE

Day shift / 5 days a week (typically Monday - Friday, but there may be some Saturday shifts outside of summer months. Schedule will not exceed 40 hours per week.)
