Job Title: Procurement Technician

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

FTE: 1.0

Starting Range: $17.07 – $17.96

(A new market-adjusted wage will start July 1)

Position Supervision:

This position reports to the Procurement Supervisor. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. However, they may provide guidance to temporary project workers.

Job Description:

The Procurement Technician supports the Procurement Supervisor to maintain an adequate inventory of food, supplies, clothing, and household items for Sponsors housing program. As part of the Procurement Team, this position also assists with warehouse storage and distribution of donations and supplies to program participants.

The Procurement Technician also ensures conditions are safe and sanitary in the pantry, including the refrigerator, freezer, and other designated areas within a warehouse and storage environment. Best practices in distribution of food, breaking down bulk item into smaller portions, and inventory management are important to the success of food management for our participants.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with food and supply inventories and orders for Sponsors’ Transitional Housing Program Campuses.

- Assist the Procurement Supervisor with the collection, storing, and equitable distribution of household and clothing donations.

- Assist the Procurement Supervisor with checking Participant food orders.

- Assist the Procurement Supervisor with food distribution.

Requirements

Skills and Knowledge:

- Experience with large-scale inventories, ordering, and adhering to budget limitations.

- Knowledge of best practices for safe handling of fresh and frozen food products.

- Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to effectively prioritize a wide variety of tasks on a timeline.

- Clear communication skills, including listening and collaborative teamwork ability.

- Basic understanding of prison reentry or general compassion for individuals recently released from incarceration.

- Comfortable driving a small box truck.

Education and Experience:

- 1 year of experience working in large-scale purchasing, warehouse management, perishable grocery stocking, food distribution, or a related field is preferred.

- Preference for previous work with a social service organization.

- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

- Must possess or be able to obtain an Oregon Food Handler’s Certificate within 30 days of hire.

Work Environment:

- Performs work in a food pantry environment.

- Performs work in a busy warehouse alongside a team of colleagues, residents, and volunteers.

- Drive an agency vehicle in the community to pick up orders.

- Works throughout multi-building campuses with participant housing and common areas

- Occasionally working in a refrigerated or freezer area to store and retrieve food items

- Works indoors and outdoors as needed.

Physical Demands:

- Ability to carry up to 50 lbs.; team-lift large and awkward-shaped items

- Able to bend, kneel, lift, and carry heavy objects repeatedly for extended periods of time.

- Walking up and down stairs

- Sitting for extended periods of time

- Walking and standing indoors and outdoors in changing climates

- Ability to carry items up and down stairs; team-carry furniture and heavy items up and down stairs.

Post-conviction Supervision Status:

Successful candidates for this position who are on parole or probation must have completed at least 1 year of supervision, have no violations of parole or probation in the past 9 months, and not be in a diversion program (e.g., SB416, Treatment Court, DUII Diversion, Restorative Justice).
