THIS ROAD MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR POSITION supervises Road Maintenance staff in the management of County roadways, including, but not limited to: paving operations, drainage maintenance, culvert installation and maintenance, vegetation management, storm clean-up, emergency response and other related duties. In addition, the Road Maintenance Supervisor plans prioritizes, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of staff involved in these projects; evaluates operations and related activities; recommends improvements and modifications; and prepares related reports. Duties also include estimating materials needed; ordering necessary amounts; supervising the storage and inventory control of stocks; and preparing specifications for equipment as needed.

About the Division

ROAD MAINTENANCE: The Road Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the County transportation system including some state highways and city streets under contract with Lane County. Although the majority of equipment and employees in Road Maintenance are based at the Delta Complex, satellite shops are located near Cottage Grove, Dexter, Veneta, and Florence. A crew and equipment are assigned to each Road Maintenance Zone. The Bridge Projects Crew, Vegetation Crew, and Sign Shop are headquartered at Delta and work throughout the County.

Schedule: Typical hours are Monday – Thursday 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

QUALIFICATIONS

Training:

Up to one year of technical or specialized training beyond high school; and 5 or more years of progressively responsible maintenance experience related to area of assignment;

Experience:

At least 1 year of lead level experience.

5-8 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience related to area of assignment.

Specialized knowledge specific to area of assignment may be required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

DRIVER’S LICENSE

Must be in possession of a valid driver's license at time of application, and a valid Oregon Driver's license by time of appointment.
