As a Red Carpet Direct Support Professional Mentor, this person understands that their purpose is to lead by example. By creating a “red carpet” welcome for the people we support and new team members. They will do this by providing mentoring while providing direct support, answering questions, and ensuring team members see the real-life application of the lessons learned through formal training. They will set a standard of person-centered practices. Their role is flexible and transitional creating stability for those new to our services.
You will be providing supports in all of these counties, Marion (Salem, Keizer), Polk (Monmouth, Independence, Dallas), and Lane county (Eugene, Springfield). The working location of your schedule varies day to day and some travel time may be compensated.
This position requires that you be able to work a variety of shifts, including, but not limited to, day shift, swing shift, awake overnights, and live in positions. While you will receive your schedule at least two weeks in advance, you may be covering an Awake Overnight Shift one day, and then a swing shift the next; this is uncommon but can happen. The Red Carpet DPS Mentor Position is required to work weekends and to pick preferred days off during the week.
Position Type: Hourly, Non-Exempt.

Basic Requirements:
-High school diploma/GED required.
-2 years experience working with people with I/DD or less with relevant letters of recommendation.
-Must be at least 18 years old when employment begins.
-Pass a State/Federal Criminal History Check.
-Background screening including employment and education history.
-Pre-employment drug screening (for the use of illegal substances in Oregon).
-Valid Driver’s License with an insurable driving record.
-Be able to be certified and maintain certification with First Aid/CPR.
-Be able to be certified and maintain certification in OIS.
Job Specific Duties:
-The Red Carpet DSP Mentor is part of a Development Team that receives specialized training to stabilize teams and welcome people to their new homes and PCL support.
-This team of DSPs will be deployed to ensure a new person has stable, skilled, and mission-focused team members to provide their support.
-Red Carpet DSP Mentors will then work alongside newly hired DSPs to create a work environment where new team members are welcomed and trained by mission-focused peers.
-Providing mentoring while providing direct support, answering questions, and ensuring team members see the real-life application of the lessons learned through formal training.
-Be knowledgeable of and implement each person’s support needs, preferences, interests, and choices as outlined in support documents and other documents.
-Set a Standard of Person Centered Support as defined by PCL’s Playbook.
-Personal Care - as outlined and trained by the ISP, and other documents.
-Providing or assisting with transportation needs of people assigned to support.
-Health Supports include knowing, understanding, and implementing any health-related plans including emergency procedures and health protocols.
-Knowing, understanding, and implementing all Positive Behavior Support Plans and other specific positive behavior supports including applying the principles of OIS.
-Occasional compensated travel to our Southern Oregon Region. (3-6 Times Per Year)
-Participate in an on-call rotation for their assigned area. On a regular rotation, this position is on-call for their assigned area for 7 consecutive days in each rotation.
