Gathering Together Farm in Philomath, Oregon, is seeking a part-time Pastry Assistant/Dishwasher. On our
working organic produce farm, there is a 35 seat Farmstand and Restaurant that is open from Spring through
Thanksgiving. We strive to highlight our delicious fresh produce as well as meats and other products from the
Willamette Valley and Oregon Coast. We are a true from-scratch kitchen, and all our bread, pasta, and pastries are
made by us. Our menu changes every week, designed with care around what is growing on the farm. At the
forefront of our dining room sits our handmade wood fired oven used to create all our naturally leavened pizzas as
well as many other dishes throughout the menu. We take pride in our friendly service and offering a unique farm
to table experience.
This Pastry Assistant position will be collaborating and assisting our head baker mostly in the donut making
process, and as needed on all aspects of bread and pastry prep and production for the Farmstand, Restaurant, and
Farmers’ Markets.
Additional hours are available on Saturday for a dish washing shift (task include washing all dishes from morning
prep and lunch service), and on Sundays for a cleaning shift (cleaning the dining room, farmstand and kitchen).
Expected Hours of Work:
7am – 11am Wednesday – Friday (production for Farmstand)
6am-10am Saturday (earlier start for Farmer’s market hours)
Responsibilities:
Attention to detail and following precise recipes and formulas.
Making donut batter, glazes and fillings.
Frying and glazing donuts for farmstand and farmer’s market.
Following health and safety procedures, follow sanitation standards and perform to those standards.
Collaborate with the overall cleanliness and sanitation of all back of house kitchen.
Interest in learning and good disposition to work with a diverse team of people and equipment.
Provide proper support to kitchen and front of house staff for overall restaurant success.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
Possession of / or ability to possess a Food Handlers Card.
Performs additional duties as directed by management.
Outgoing personality with willingness and initiative to jump in and help others.
A passion for baking with local ingredients
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift 50lbs or more.
Ability to work early mornings in cold weather and late mornings in hot weather.
