Compensation: $24.96/hour (plus .50 for Bilingual Spanish)
Hours: On-Call – hours not guaranteed

Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary function of this position is to substitute and fill in for staff that are out and will be responsible for collaborating with the Early Head Start teaching team to support student’s learning and healthy development. This position will help foster a safe and engaging learning classroom environment, under the direction of the Teacher Advocate, and is responsible for leading the Early Head Start classroom when the Teacher is on break or out, as well as developing and leading various gross motor and small group activities each day.
Typically, notifications for substitute assignments are made on the morning of the scheduled day. Advance notice is given, when possible. Effective communication is essential for this role.
Requirements
Educational requirements:
Associate degree or higher with a minimum of 12 ECE credits or equivalent
OR Infant Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, which is equivalent to Step 7 on the Oregon Registry
Diploma and transcripts are required to be submitted for review to validate degree in Early Childhood Education/Related field and to verify ECE/Related coursework
Competency with Microsoft applications required
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
6 months experience in an infant/toddler setting preferred
Head Start parent or past parent preferred
Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children’s needs required. This position is rated as active and occasionally requires the individual to lift 50 pounds
Required prior to date of hire and throughout employment:
1.) Proof of current auto insurance. Must provide current liability insurance Food Handler’s Card
2.) Current enrollment in the OR Child Care Division-Criminal History Registry (CBR)
3.) Within 60 days of hire, Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification
4.) Access to reliable transportation
Above certifications must be kept current to remain employed
Must be able to ride a school bus with children for assigned periods of time
Must have an initial health examination, and a periodic re-examination (as recommended by health care provider) so as to assure that employees do not because of communicable diseases, pose a significant risk to the health or safety of others, that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation.
