POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs general construction duties such as site preparation, protection, cleanup, light carpentry work, and maintenance. This may include staking site boundaries, assisting with window installation, under-floor inspections, installing temporary doors, straightening walls, cutting and installing trim, dump runs, safety compliance, and other construction related tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic set of hand tools
Must be at least 18 years old
Be in good physical condition (see below for details)
Valid Oregon driver’s license and driving record that meet insurance requirements
General construction knowledge and basic carpentry skills, with working knowledge of carpentry tools
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Ability to operate small power tools
Ability to operate large trucks and pull dump trailers
Ability to work independently with responsible use of time
Knowledge and ability to use tools and perform various construction labor tasks
Must be able with proper instruction to operate small to medium size construction vehicles, such as Bobcats, trenchers, forklifts, etc.
Must possess a basic knowledge of construction safety following OSHA guidelines.
Must have high ethical standards & be able to uphold Sun Forest’s excellent reputation in the business community.
Must have the physical ability to meet the demands of the position, which include standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing on 20 ft. ladders and roofs, reaching. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, Will occasionally be exposed to severe weather conditions, and be around construction dust, occasional paint and lacquer fumes, and construction noise. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions within the limits of the physical demands of this position.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Picks up and moves or loads lumber scraps and general construction trash and debris, such as plywood, dimensional lumber, drywall scraps, wood and metal small debris, paper and paint products into trailers. Hauls trailers back and forth to landfill.
2. Prepares jobsites for construction projects using site protection supplies and equipment and staking out boundaries.
3. Operates small power tools for small project work, and to assist the production supervisor with assigned tasks.
4. Cleans construction surfaces by safely using chemicals & cleaners.
5. Performs light touch up work using paints and stains.
6. Erects and disassembles scaffolding, ladders and other work platforms.
7. Must have full knowledge of Sun Forest construction standards and apply them to daily assignments.
8. Troubleshoot job sites and inform Project Managers of potential problems. Keep eyes & ears open to SFC standards in all phases of construction.
9. Perform job site & tool & cord safety inspections, participate in safety meetings. Makes sure job sites are safe.
10. Work with and communicate effectively with co-workers, managers, suppliers, sub-contractors, and clients as needed.
11. Exhibits good judgment, high ethical standards, & reliability at all times, and represents Sun Forest reputably with our clients, staff, suppliers, business associates, and in the community.
