(This recruitment series is to fill one position. To be considered qualified, an applicant must meet the minimum requirements for one of the following three levels of the Parks and Cemetery Worker.)
POSITION: Parks and Cemetery Maintenance Worker I
Public Works
Non-Exempt, Represented
Monthly Salary: $3912 - $4976 (Grade 8)
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Performs a variety of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to area of assignment within public works including facilities, cemetery, and parks.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Mandatory Requirements:
High school diploma, or GED equivalent, plus twelve (12) months verifiable work experience, which has provided specific knowledge in the area assigned; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the above-described duties. Woodworking experience and/or equipment operation related to the described duties of this position.
Knowledge of one or more of these areas:
- The principles and practices associated with the repair, maintenance, and installation of irrigation and/or
landscaping, facilities maintenance, and/or construction.
- The systems, practices, methods, hazards, and safety precautions associated with materials, vehicles, equipment, and
tools in area of assignment.
Ability to drive or operate vehicles, equipment, machines, and tools safely and in conformance with applicable laws, regulations, and work rules; detect needed repairs and make minor adjustments to equipment, machines or tools needed to perform duties; understand and carry out written and oral instructions; work independently in performance of regular assignments; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the public.
Special Requirements/Licenses:
- The position requires employees to operate a motor vehicle in the course of their position. Possession of, or must
obtain within thirty (30) days from date of hire, a valid Oregon driver’s license.
- Must have a safe driving record.
Desirable Requirements:
For desirable requirements to be considered, one must have met the minimum requirements noted above:
- Eighteen (18) months verifiable work experience in parks, facilities and/or cemetery maintenance.
- Twelve (12) months verifiable work experience in City/County/State government.
- Twelve (12) months verifiable experience in irrigation installation and design and/or landscaping; facilities
maintenance and/or construction experience.
Personal Protective Equipment

POSITION: Parks and Cemetery Maintenance Worker II
Public Works
Non-Exempt, Represented
Monthly Salary: $4313 - $5486 (Grade 10)
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Performs a variety of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to area of assignment within public works including streets, parks, cemetery, building maintenance, water distribution and wastewater collection.
Performs a full range of facilities maintenance for City buildings and structures. This includes corrective and preventative maintenance, construction, carpentry, demolition, cabinetry, and remodeling projects for City facilities; maintains HVAC systems located in City structures.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Mandatory Requirements:
High school diploma, or GED equivalent; plus, three (3) years of experience and training which has provided specific knowledge to perform in the position assigned and supervisory training or experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the above-described duties.
Considerable knowledge of:
- The principles and practices associated with the repair, maintenance, and installation of irrigation.
- The systems, practices, methods, hazards, and safety precautions associated with materials, vehicles, equipment, and
tools in area of assignment.
- The principles and practices associated with facility maintenance & repairs such as but not limited to: HVAC,
plumbing, minor electrical, painting, wood working, preventative maintenance, etc.
Ability to drive or operate vehicles, equipment, machines, and tools safely and in conformance with applicable laws, regulations, and work rules; detect needed repairs and make minor adjustments to equipment, machines or tools needed to perform duties; understand and carry out written and oral instructions; work independently in performance of regular assignments; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the public.
Operation and repair of automobile, pickup/utility truck, 5/10 yard dump truck, wheel loader, mechanical and manual spray equipment, chain/trimming saws, jackhammer, riding and manual mowers, backhoe, weed eaters, lawn edger, and various hand and wood working tools.
Special Requirements/Licenses:
- The position requires employees to operate a motor vehicle in the course of their position. Possession of, or must
obtain within thirty (30) days from date of hire, a valid Oregon driver’s license.
- Must have a safe driving record.
- Possession of an Herbicide/Pesticide applicator License.
- Possession of any certifications or licenses required by state or federal agencies to work in the position assigned.
- Possession of a current Basic First Aid and CPR Certificate,
- Possession of a current Backflow Testing Certification.
Desirable Requirements:
For desirable requirements to be considered, one must have met the minimum requirements noted above:
- Three (3) years verifiable wood working experience.
- Possession of a current Playground Safety Inspector Certification.
- CPO License.

POSITION: Parks and Cemetery Maintenance Worker III
Public Works
Non-Exempt, Represented
Monthly Salary: 4755 - 6048 (Grade 12)
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Performs a variety of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to area of assignment within public works, including streets, parks, cemetery, building maintenance; water distribution and wastewater collection; does related work as required.
Performs a full range of facilities maintenance for City buildings and structures. This includes corrective and preventative maintenance, construction, carpentry, demolition, cabinetry, and remodeling projects for City facilities; maintains HVAC systems located in city structures.
Provides program oversight, performs specialty maintenance tasks and maintains necessary training/education requirements in assigned areas of emphasis, such as arboriculture, building and facility maintenance; repair programs including electrical HVAC and energy conservation.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma, or GED equivalent, plus five (5) years of verifiable work experience and training which has provided specific knowledge to perform in the position assigned and supervisory training or experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the above-described duties.
Considerable knowledge of:
