Job Title: Kitchen Assistant (Summer/Fall)
Compensation: $575-$605 per week
40-45 hours per week, Monday-Friday (Spring, Fall), Sunday-Thursday or Monday-Friday (Summer)
Full room and board provided (housing, food, internet, utilities, laundry for the entire duration of the season, including weekends and seasonal breaks)
Full accommodations for dietary restrictions or preferences
We are Kitchen Assistants who can commit to our 2024 Summer and Fall seasons (June to October). At Camp Tamarack we host Outdoor School, Summer Camp, and classroom programs, providing youth of all ages with hands-on opportunities that promote personal growth and a better understanding of the environment and world that surrounds them. How We Make This Position Sustainable:
FULL Room and Board: There is no cost to staff for housing, meals (when programming is running), internet, utilities, and laundry seven days a week for your entire season of employment
40-45 hour Work-Week: Compared to other overnight camps, where you work from the time you wake up until the time you go to bed all week, at Camp Tamarack Instructors work shift schedules and only work 1-2 evenings per week as well as have rotating Sundays and Fridays off
Paid “Sick or Sad” leave: Whether you get sick or just need a mental health day, we offer accruing paid leave for our employees. 1 full day of pay earned for each session worked, 1 day for Spring Outdoor School, 1 day for Summer Camp, and 1 day for Fall Outdoor School
Wellness Stipend: After a year of employment, we offer a monthly wellness stipend for health care, a gym membership, counseling, exercise equipment or class, or whatever you do to promote your wellness
Occasional weekend work is available with extra pay attached
Dates:
We are hiring Instructors who can commit to the Summer and Fall seasons (June through October). Please note that there are breaks in between sessions.
2024 Season Dates:
Summer Camp: June 16th-August 28th
Fall Outdoor School: September 9th-October 30th
Weekly Salary:

Job Description:
Communicate in an inclusive, collaborative, appropriate manner for our children’s camp setting
Desire to work as a part of a team, to share the kitchen workload fairly, and to work towards a common goal
Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious menus that are friendly to staff and all program participants
Prepare and cook meals that support requested dietary needs and or food allergies such as vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free diets, and severe allergies
Support the kitchen team and take on any assigned tasks
Wash all dishes used in the preparation of meals as well as dishes used during meal service
Maintain the coffee station, tea, and all meal facilities within the lodge
Maintain overall cleanliness of the main lodge & kitchen area
Maintain food Handler's Certificate food handling standards in kitchen, refrigerators, and pantries
Clean the kitchen, refrigerators, and pantries at the end of each program week
Responsible for washing kitchen laundry

Living and Working Conditions:
This position is a seasonal position with several week breaks throughout this season.
Extended hours may be required.
Physical Demands: 5% Sitting, 75% Standing, 20% Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling Pounds 5 - 80 lbs.
If staff choose to live on-site, they live in shared staff quarters.
Housing is provided for the entire season of employment (you don’t have to move out on the weekends or in between sessions- your space is your space for the whole season)
Housing is shared with other employees in assigned cabins or bunk rooms.
