SUN FOREST CONSTRUCTION, Central Oregon’s most longstanding and diversified custom home builder and remodeling company well known for its integrity, quality and service has an opening for a highly skilled Finance Manager. The candidates we are seeking will have the knowledge and skills that include the following:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Finance Manager is highly organized and detail-oriented management staff member who oversees all accounting and financial operations of the company including the production of periodic financial reports, oversight of accounting staff, maintenance of proper accounting records, and ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting principles and regulations. This position is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and assist management in making educated economic decisions for the company. This role is critical to the company’s financial stability and growth.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in the construction field
Comprehensive knowledge and experience with payroll and all related Federal and State tax returns
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and accurate
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Basic financial & business skills required.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
Must have the ability to solve highly technical and complex problems associated with accounting transactions, systems, controls, and procedures.
Must be able to perform duties with a high level of accuracy, impartiality, and confidentiality.
Must have the analytical ability to independently research and provide direction to management regarding business objectives, including increasing profitability and expense management.
Must be 100% trustworthy and have the skills and ability to competently safeguard and manage all company assets including handling of cash.
Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
Must be an effective decision maker, with the ability to solve problems quickly and appropriately.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel. Experience with construction accounting software and/or project tracking software would be helpful, but not required.
Must have the ability to prepare and/or maintain complex spreadsheet models.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to deal effectively & professionally with co-workers, clients, sub-contractors, vendors, and others involved with business operations.
Must have high ethical standards & be able to uphold Sun Forest’s excellent reputation in the business community.
KEY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Is accountable for implementing and overseeing all financial operations within the company.
2. Understands and manages the following accounting functions: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, job costing, and financial statements.
3. Develops and maintains reliable control systems to preserve assets.
4. Makes recommendations to help manage cash flow and liquidity.
5. Prepares cash flow statements and accurate revenue/earnings projections.
6. Provides historic and forward-looking financial reporting to the Board of Directors.
7. Prepares financial analysis as needed and formulates financial strategy.
8. Ensures the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
9. Ensures accounting systems and recordkeeping meets all requirements from federal agencies.
10. Oversees employee benefit plans.
11. Interfaces with banks, auditors, CPAs, Trustees, and third-party administrators
12. Exhibits good judgment, high ethical standards, and competent decision-making skills at all times, and represents Sun Forest reputably with our clients, staff, suppliers, business associates, and in the community.
