We are immediately hiring for a Microbiology Lab Technician on the west side of Columbus! This is a long-term career opportunity for someone who wants to grow in the field. This role will primarily be performing microbiology testing on food products, and more specifically on protein shakes in a brand new, state of the art facility.This opportunity has a ton of room for growth and will be on a 1st shift.An ideal candidate for this role will have a Bachelors' Degree in Microbiology or Biology.Job DescriptionAs a Microbiology Lab Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining safe work practices and ensuring product quality in a brand new state-of-the-art facility. Your duties will include adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), maintaining sanitary conditions, and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will perform in-process quality checks and lab testing, inspect incoming ingredients, and assist in drafting and revising standard operating procedures.Key Responsibilities:
Conduct periodic quality checks, including physical and chemical lab tests, coding, weight, packaging integrity, labeling, and temperature checks.
Inspect and sample incoming ingredients for internal lab testing as required.
Serve as a liaison between Production, Distribution, Sanitation, Maintenance, and the Quality Department.
Participate in food safety/quality inspections, mock recalls, and HACCP audits.
Verify proper setup of production lines and review the sanitary condition of production lines before startup.
Communicate quality issues and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Perform environmental swabbing of critical production areas as needed.
Ensure lab equipment is properly maintained and calibrated, and maintain micro sample and shelf-life study programs.
