Position Overview
As a Truck Mechanic at Svet on Wheels, you will join a team of skilled professionals committed to minimizing downtime for our fleet and customers. Working with leading repair technologies and diagnostic tools, you'll ensure trucks and trailers return to the road safely, reliably, and swiftly.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect vehicles and trailers to diagnose issues in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and refrigerated systems.
Perform preventive maintenance, including fluid changes, brake and steering inspections, A/C and refrigeration systems service.
Diagnose and repair malfunctions using advanced diagnostic software and equipment.
Replace or rebuild mechanical components — engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and other critical systems.
Conduct safety and compliance checks, ensuring adherence to DOT and industry regulations.
Test drive vehicles post-repair to validate performance and safety.
Document work accurately using maintenance software; maintain records per company standards.
Maintain the workshop — keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
Collaborate with service advisors, dispatchers, and fellow mechanics to ensure smooth workflow and customer satisfaction.
Contribute to uptime, helping keep temperature-sensitive cargo and deliveries on schedule
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
High school diploma or GED.
English and Spanish are a must
Proven experience as a diesel or truck mechanic, heavy-duty repair technician, or similar.
Strong diagnostic, mechanical, and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to safety, PPE usage, and compliance with occupational standards
Experience with computerized diagnostic tools.
Available to work Monday–Friday and at least one Saturday (schedule: 8 AM–6 PM weekdays; Saturdays 8 AM–1 PM)
Answer Calls and communicate with outside Customers
Roadservice work will be paid as bonus if wanted.
Preferred:
Diesel Technology or Automotive Technical certification.
ASE certifications (especially brakes, steering, diesel systems).
CDL (Class B or A), or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
Experience with refrigerated trailer systems and reefer diagnostics
