This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Defiance GPS on a full-time basis.This is a three shift operation. The selected candidate must be willing to work any shift (shifts are rotating) and must be open to overtime work.The Role:As a Leader for Maintenance and Production, you will be responsible for the supervision of salaried employees responsible for the implementation and execution of the established business process for an area in the production operations and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation, and the maintenance and repair of plant equipment. Work requires the ability to make decisions based on established procedure. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE).What You'll Do:

Lead the maintenance and repair of plant equipment and facilities aligned with standard GM maintenance systems.

Maintain awareness of quality standards, and communicate department quality goals, and leverages resources to solve quality issues.

Conduct appropriate checks and tests and communicates evaluation of results. Responsible for preventative maintenance and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions,

Recommend solutions to problems, and meets schedule and quality requirements in addition to the following responsibilities.

Participate in the selection of new employees and hold responsibility for the training, development and evaluation of salaried and hourly employees, as well as the development of highly effective teams

Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements

Implement divisional and corporate policies, safety and good housekeeping practices

Coach, teach, counsel and mentor Group Leaders in these responsibilities.

Establish a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project

Lead technical guidance for complex and unusual plant operations or projects

Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts within assigned area

Comply with the terms of local and national labor agreements

Additional Job DescriptionYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) ​​ :

Minimum of 3 years previous Manufacturing experience

1-2 manufacturing leadership experience

Knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes and management systems as they relate to production operations

Knowledge of lean manufacturing

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) : ​

Bachelor degree preferred

Five or more years of Manufacturing experience

Maintenance leadership experience

Strong technical background consisting of technical troubleshooting

CNC or machining experience
