I’m a Brooklyn-based public artist looking for a freelance assistant to manage and execute responses to RFQs (Requests for Qualifications) for public art projects across North America.
This role is ideal for someone with strong writing and organizational skills, an interest in the arts or public design, and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight. You’ll be taking the lead on drafting and submitting application packages, keeping deadlines and materials organized, and occasionally proofreading or collaborating on creative proposal and writing work.
Responsibilities:
Track upcoming public art RFQs in a shared Google Doc, organized by due date
Maintain organized Google Drive folders for each application
Tailor application language based on the opportunity (text provided, but often needs editing and refinement)
Select appropriate images from a provided portfolio
Submit final application packages
Occasionally proofread and refine creative writing and project proposal materials
Communicate clearly and reliably when collaboration or feedback is needed
Requirements:
Exceptional writing and editing skills
Excellent organizational and time management abilities
Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
Responsive, professional communicator
Familiarity with public art, grant writing, or design fields a plus but not required
Opportunity for Growth:
While this role primarily supports public art applications, I’m also open to working with someone who has initiative and ideas for improving other areas of communication. That could include developing outreach strategies, refining website content, drafting email newsletters, or exploring PR opportunities. If you’re someone who sees ways to elevate messaging and engagement, I’d be happy to explore those with you.
Details:
Remote, freelance/part-time
Approx. 10-20hours/month depending on volume
