Kindfulness is a portmanteau of KINDness and mindfulNESS.

THIS POSITION IS UNPAID AT THE MOMENT AS KINDFULNESS IS IN ITS INITIAL PHASE OF STARTUP. It has secured collaborators with funding & resources. While Kindfulness is nonprofit, one of its programs is a technology development that will offshoot into a for-profit business. Contributions during the unpaid period may lead to stakes in the offshoot for-profit business

As a community-centered nonprofit startup based in Columbus, Ohio, USA, Kindfulness focuses on five core populations who have experienced unhousing, trafficking, reentry, sexuality/gender-related stressors, and military veteranship. Kindfulnss seeks to reduce illness and mortality, and improve upward mobility, related to the insecurity of, and the ineffective use of food, healthcare supplies, and services navigation, linkage, and utilization.

Kindfulness' strategies include:

1. 24/7/365 accessible smart vending machines, anywhere delivery, and mobile outreach to distribute resources where physical access to traditional agencies is a barrier due to distance, lack of transit, mobility, operating hours, or privacy concerns.

2. A service-research-policy network to optimize & monitor the longitudinal accountability and sustainability of program & policy effectiveness

3. Mind-body interventions such as mindfulness-based stress reduction and mindfulness-oriented relapse enhancement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Kindfulness is searching for a Deputy Director to support the Director, Edwin Szeto, in the following areas:

1. Operation: business plan, compliance, infrastructure, gap analyses

2. Program development

3. Agency collaboration: scope and analyze unmet needs, collective purchasing, cost-sharing of human services agencies

4. Community analyses: scope and analyze strengths, barriers, and preferences of core populations

5. Establish a network of human services, research institutions, and policymakers & advocates

6. Fundraising & grant writing

7. Responsibilities will be limited to 10 - 20 hours/week workload, schedule is flexible.

8. Interest in the service-research-policy pipeline

QUALIFICATION

1. Strong verbal and written communication, and effective social skills to maintain rapport with community members and collaborators.

2. Bachelors degree.

3. Minimum of 6 months working with nonprofits at an operational or leadership level.

4. Minimum of 1 year direct-contact with consumers (paid or unpaid) with at least one of Kindfulness' core communities: unhoused, trafficking, reentry, sexuality/gender-related stressors, and military veterans. Examples of direct-contact services may include clinical services, case management, peer advocates, resources centers (pantries, drop-in centers, training agencies, etc.).

5. Background in health systems, healthcare, and public policy preferred.
