This role will lead Procurement's efforts to establish and develop the comprehensive processes required to perform a strategic analysis for each of the key raw materials used to produce Sherwin's innovative products. The resulting work product will become a critical input in the development of both short and long-term commodity procurement strategies. This individual will establish comprehensive cost models and thorough industry analysis for each of Sherwin's vital raw materials. These models and data analysis will be leveraged to maximize the profitability of each raw material commodity portfolio within the context of the overall business. Market analysis coverage should be as broad and as detailed as appropriate to achieve an actionable, proprietary strategic analysis. This could include but not be limited to the following components:

Performing meticulous market analysis and developing a proprietary strategic analysis for Sherwin's most critical raw materials, which can be used to develop and drive best-in-class sourcing strategies.
Develop accurate cost models for raw materials/feedstock, which can be used to quickly assess the impact of major market moves or changes.
Produce detailed commodity supply/demand forecasts based on tracking current production and consumption and announced and presumed changes in production or consumption capacity.
Construct robust supply curves and quantify the cost to produce for the market's incremental supplier, and the cost for each new increment of supply capacity.
Maintain a clear understanding of the price-setting mechanism currently working in the marketplace and the key drivers that could change this.
Understand the secondary and/or related drivers for each commodity (e.g., by-product economics, co-product economics, etc.) and what effect changes in these drivers would have on Sherwin's supply position.
Create, maintain, and coordinate vital market intelligence and index data used by the procurement team.
Maintain and work with external vendors on the timely renewal of market intelligence contracts and orders. Regularly review internally with team to ensure all the subscriptions are relevant and being utilized.
Publish weekly/monthly market trends reports to the global/regional category management teams.

Develop and maintain key performance metric dashboards that track the efficacy of our business strategy, summarize key insights, and recommend actions for betterment.
Champion a strong understanding of global strategic sourcing processes and operating models, and stay abreast of megatrends.
Drive highly visible strategic projects by working cross-functionally to structure problems, analyze opportunities, develop solutions, make actionable recommendations, and deliver results through rigorous, data-driven processes.

Experience working in Chemical market analysis & research with a focus on Petrochemicals/Specialty Chemicals.
