Job Description: Responsible for performing inspections, tests, analyses and/or audits of highly complex products using various CMM equipment to include microelectronics, precision mechanical parts, precision mechanical assemblies, PWB components, and assemblies to ensure quality standards and compliance to customer and regulatory requirements. Inspection may include energetic components and assemblies. Approves conformance to outlined Inspection procedures, responsible for ensuring safety, reliability and hardware traceability for end-item systems and mission solutions through quality inspection oversight. Collaborates with quality engineers in developing inspection requirements and techniques and implementing quality plans. Assists in evaluating defect data to identify trends and collaborates with quality engineers to make recommendations on process improvements. Routinely supports and interfaces with Supplier Quality, and Program Quality teams Essential Functions:

Through the proficient use and Operation of Zeiss CMM equipment and programming Calipso software performs detailed inspections including FAI’s, engineering support, and production support. Sets-up and performs inspections of components and assemblies to determine precise conformance to specifications, tolerances and workmanship standards. As necessary, performs first article inspections and complete first article inspection documentation.

Review technical drawings, key product/process characteristics, sampling plans, and inspection plans, and bills of material and perform inspection as required.

Use established quality Inspection techniques to identify potential product quality concerns and opportunities for improvement. Communicating quality concerns to the appropriate quality support (QE / SQE) team

Operation of Optical inspection equipment such as 14”, 16” and 30 “ Optical Comparators.

Skilled use of inspection tools including Indicator test stands, Micrometers, Calipers, Scales, Thread Gauges and Plug gauges. Surface finish comparison and Workmanship assessments per the required standards.

Qualifications:

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

2 years minimum experience programming and setting up CMM equipment using Calipso software.

4 years minimum experience of Engineering drawings, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical assemblies and inspection.

4 years minimum experience in inspection and six years minimum experience in a technical environment related to required skill sets, or equivalent combination of experience and education.

4 years minimum experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Preferred Additional Skills:

Experience in J-STD and PWB Inspection a plus.

Experience at working with MIL-STD drawings and requirements.

Experience with AS9100 requirements.

Solid Microsoft EXCEL skills.
