Responsibilities

Picks up soiled linen at designated areas.

Sorts soiled linen according to fabric, color type and degree of soil.

Loads and unloads washing machines

Observes machines during washing cycle to ensure that proper water levels, temperature.

Reports malfunctions of equipment to department manager.

Loads dryers with damp wash after linen has been sorted; adjusts controls and starts machine, unloads linens into baskets for sorting and folding.

Feeds clean, flat work pieces through mangle with the assistance of co-worker who removes items and finishes folding them; separates torn linen for mending.

Folds dried articles such as bath blankets, towels, gowns, wash cloths, by hand and in a prescribed manner, stacks them for sorting and distribution.

Places all folded linens in appropriate places on storage shelves, delivers all linen needing repair to sewing area.

Assembles linen requirements for departments according to established daily supply standard; weighs outgoing carts, records total and delivers linen supplies to designated areas.

Receives telephone requests for extra linen supplies, records item to be delivered, and quantity and unit requesting delivery.

Inspects linen articles for tears, holes and general condition of fabric and determines if article should be mended or discarded.

Sews, mends and hems all linen used in the health care facility, using appropriate means available.

Assists in sanitizing work area by cleaning floors and equipment; clean lint traps daily.

Operates equipment safely and efficiently according to established guidelines.

Reports all damaged and unsafe equipment.

QualificationsRequiredHigh school graduate or equivalentCNA/HHA certificationAbility to read, write and verbally report clinical information to patients, representatives and caregivers, as well as to other Home Health Agency staff and document care givenPossess and maintains current BLS certificationLicensed driver with automobile that is insured in accordance with organization requirementsPreferredSelf-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervisionEmpathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impairedDemonstrates tact, patience and good personal hygienePay Range$17.12 - $23.54 /hourWe are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
