We are looking for a diesel technician to add to our team at the home terminal in Grand Forks.We are looking to hire an experiencedheavy duty diesel tech. Primary duties include working on Semi Trucks and trailers. You will work directly with our Shop Foreman, Service Writers, Parts Manager, and the Fleet Maintenance Manager.Job Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance on trucks, such as checking batteries and changing oil to ensure proper vehicle running
Inspect various parts of trucks and trailers, including brake systems, wheel bearings and steering mechanisms to ensure they are in the proper condition to operate effectively
Use different tools and equipment, such as pressure gauges, pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, screwdrivers, hoists, and jacks, to repair trucks while constantly utilizing safety precautions
Diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment by inspecting and testing using devises such as motor analyzers, handheld computers, and chassis charts to determine how to address problems
Test drive vehicles to ensure they are running properly and to find issues to determine what the solution will be
Replace parts, bearings, and gears as needed and repair vehicle cooling and heating systems
Measure vehicle emissions to ensure they are in the proper limits
Ensure parts conform to factory specifications by inspecting and verifying clearances and dimensions
Must own and maintain basic hand tools
Required Job Skills and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Must have basic mechanic abilities and knowledge of basic tools
Must be able to lift heavy equipment and parts regularly
Excellent customer service skills, the ability to communicate professional with clients and support staff
Must be comfortable with working in awkward positions or cramped spaces
Must be willing to learn our systems and practices
We are willing to train the right individual who is mechanically inclined
Preferred
Technical certification or degree
2+ years experience in diesel mechanics
Welding/Fabricating Experience
Automotive/Shop Experience
CDL/Truck Driving Experience
Truck tire/Alignment
Previous experience as a mechanic
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
