Legacy High School is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable, and enthusiasticHead Girls' Track and Field Coachto lead our track and field program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for track and field, experience coaching student-athletes at the high school level, and the ability to mentor, inspire, and develop athletes both on and off the track. The Head Coach will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the girls' track and field program, including planning practices, managing meets, and promoting a culture of excellence, discipline, and sportsmanship.Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the entire girls' track and field program, including sprints, distance running, jumps, throws, and relays.
Develop and implement effective training plans that align with athletes' needs and goals, ensuring both skill development and injury prevention.
Organize and conduct regular team practices, ensuring athletes receive appropriate instruction in technique, conditioning, and race strategies.
Supervise assistant coaches, ensuring their roles and responsibilities align with the overall vision of the program.
Develop and maintain a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, and academic success.
Monitor and support athletes academic progress, ensuring compliance with eligibility requirements.
Plan, organize, and manage team participation in meets, including scheduling competitions, coordinating travel, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Collaborate with the athletic director to ensure all equipment, facilities, and uniforms are properly maintained.
Build relationships with local community members, student-athletes, and parents to foster a supportive and inclusive environment.
Stay up to date on trends, techniques, and best practices in track and field coaching through continued education and professional development.
Uphold and enforce the policies and standards of the school, league, and state athletic associations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Previous experience as a track and field coach at the high school or collegiate level is preferred.
A strong knowledge of all aspects of track and field, including sprints, distance events, jumps, throws, and relays.
A proven ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their personal and team goals.
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Current ND Coaches Certification. (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to manage and mentor assistant coaches.
Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
Please note - Coaches who hold a ND teaching license - wages are reportable to the North Dakota Teacher's Fund for Retirement (TFFR). The employee (coach) will contribute 11.75% of their salary and the District will contribute 12.75%
