We are looking for an upbeat, energetic and industrious farm manager to help us reach our production goals in 2025 and beyond. You will play a major role in operating a successful diversified family farm, and helping to provide the community at large with sustainably grown, healthy food choices.
About the Role: Your role on the farm will be a vital one. You will help manage field crews and tractor operations, and assist in managing washing & packing operations.
Responsibilities:
Directing and working alongside field crew to complete assigned tasks
Driving, including loading and unloading products or field inputs
Operating tractor in field to complete assigned tasks. Proficiency changing out and connecting tractor implements.
Help direct vegetable packing and washing operation
Maintaining a tidy workplace, indoors and outdoors
Help conduct greenhouse and hoophouse operations
Candidate Requirements:
experience managing a farm crew (or similar, such as a landscaping crew)
safe and clean driving record
physically capable of hard work in all weather conditions
ability to operate machinery (tractor, BCS tiller/tractor, hand tools, yard machines)
ability to prioritize, communicate and implement field tasks efficiently
have strong work references
Requirements:
Ability to lift and move upwards of 60 lbs,
willingness/ability to drive deliveries/pickups as needed,
ability to drive truck with a trailer,
proficiency operating and completing tractor tasks specifically those related to vegetable production,
proficiency using tractor attachments,
proficiency directing farm crew to complete tasks as determined by supervisor,
ability to prioritize/communicate/implement field tasks,
ability and willingness to complete hand-work tasks (harvesting, trellising, pruning, weeding, washing and packing, cleaning, unloading/loading vehicles, moving product and inputs manually etc),
willingness to take direction,
demonstration of leadership skills in overseeing field crew,
willingness to work in sometimes very hot (or cold) conditions (both field and hoophouse environs),
willingness to see the task to its completion,
flexibility,
sense of humor
We can make this position 4 days per week (Tuesdays through Fridays), with 10 hour days. Some variation on this schedule may be necessary to accommodate weather changes in meeting pressing production needs. A regular 5 day week is also workable. Most days start early, around 7AM. The job begins in February or March.
Starting Compensation is TBD, and includes farm fresh produce and discounted eggs/meats, and end of season profit-sharing. We cannot provide housing.
