We are hiring part-time and full-time internship positions on our family farm to start in March and April.
Harmony Ridge Farms is a diversified sustainable farm producing a wide variety of vegetables, blueberries, melons, eggs, pork and duck. We also serve as a food aggregator for other farms and distribute all our product throughout the Triad and Charlotte.
Most of the internship will revolve around work done growing, harvesting, processing and packing vegetables. There may be opportunity to work at a farmer's market and help on the livestock part of the farm as well. There will be indoor work packing orders and washing vegetables as well as work done in greenhouse and hoophouses.
Educational opportunities will depend on the level of engagement of the intern - I'm able to answer questions about processes etc. as time allows.
The ideal candidate is a self starter that works well on a team, takes direction, is punctual and reliable, enjoys outdoor pursuits, and is willing to do what it takes to get the job done. Must be willing to work in all weather to perform sometimes difficult tasks. Must be able to lift 40 lbs and be relatively physically fit as the work can be physically demanding. Sense of humor helps!
Our usual weekly schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, we are open to part or full time. Days start early (between 6:30 and 7:30) and run until mid to late afternoon.
Internship runs until at least the end of Summer, but may go through Fall or Winter and can turn into a larger term position for the right individual.
Compensation also includes vegetables and eggs raised on the farm, as well as discounts on meats.
